Supplier Quality Engineer

The Opportunity

The Supplier Quality Engineer assists in implementing and maintaining all quality system requirements, including APQP, PPAP, customer concerns and visits, gauging, process control plans, supplier issues, and customer-specific requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participating in weekly SOPs meetings
  • Coordinate with purchasing department to monitor supplier performance, generating regular reports, and administering corrective actions as necessary
  • Complete supplier and performance audits to enhance process standardization and waste elimination
  • Develop inspection methods to analyze product quality
  • Resolve non-conformance issues with supplied materials and follow-up with suppliers for completion of corrective actions
  • Support new product launches, ensuring compliance with established standards
  • Evaluate supplier data to initiate process improvement opportunities along the supply chain
  • Coordinate with purchasing department to monitor supplier performance, generating regular reports and administering corrective actions as necessary

  • Resolve non-conformance issues with supplied materials and follow up with suppliers for completion of corrective actions
  • Develop standards and requirements for purchased components
  • Support new product launches, ensuring compliance with established standards
  • Evaluate supplier data to initiate process improvement opportunities along the supply chain
  • Maintain the bills of material and items lists for production builds
  • Audit the accuracy of production, service, and body shop workshop orders
  • Supply pricing for other departments as requested, i.e., Damage billing, body shop, sales, etc.
  • Participate in the annual physical inventory count
  • Resolve RMA/RGA’s and work with supplier(s) or customer(s)
  • Ensure all suppliers and the materials they provide comply with engineering and manufacturing specifications, as well as company and government standards. They secure and work directly with suppliers to audit supplies regularly for quality control.

Required Skillsets

  • Minimum 2 year technical degree and/or certification(s)
  • Hands on experience with measuring hand tools (micrometers, calipers, gages, etc.).
  • Understanding of drawings dimensions, GD&T, and product specifications.
  • Automotive supplied parts quality experience.
  • Experience with electrical parts preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including ability to collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and recommend effective corrective action.
  • Ability to organize, plan, allocate resources and prioritize in order to meet multiple overlapping and competing deadlines and strict timelines.
  • Ability to prepare documentation and present to Senior and Executive Management.
  • Auditor experience using the process approach and strong understanding of ISO/IATF requirements.
